Double hulled oil tanks of 25cbm/each were successfully installed at Service Station (SS) No. 11 of Petrolimex Saigon in the morning of October 24, 2014.

On this occasion the Retail Enterprise in line of Petrolimex Saigon, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in coordination with Tamada Industrial Joint Stock Company of Japan (Tamada Company) and Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) introduced this Japanese advanced technology.

Attending the ceremony were Chief Representative of JICA HCM City Toshifumi Sakai, Director of Vietnam Tamada Company Yoshihisa Tamada, Vice Director of Petrolimex Saigon Trinh Ba Bo, Director of Retail Enterprise Duong Van Phi and representatives of related companies in the South in line of Petrolimex.

SF tank is the double hulled tank comprising the inner hull made by steel and the outer cover made by reinforced plastics FRP with mounted censor to give warning of leakage , while the plastic coat would protect the inner steel from rust or corrosion compliant with fire protection requirement. This tank technology was widely applied in Japan since 1993.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Director of Petrolimex Saigon Trinh Ba Bo emphasized: environment protection is a very important task, a responsibility of the society including the enterprise. In order to preempt leakages that might occur, the consideration of various alternatives for environment protection such as the testing and assessment of foreign new technological products is very important. At the same time, on behalf of Petrolimex Group and Petrolimex Saigon, he sincerely thanked JICA, Tamada Company, Petrolimex Construction and Installation No. 1 for their cooperation with the Retail Enterprise, the Installation and Trading Enterprise of Petrolimex Saigon to proceed with the experimental installation of SF double hulled tanks in time and up to technical standard.

Tamada Company Director Yoshihisa Tamada developing the project informed that the inspection of regular tanks was periodically made, but with SF double hulled tanks leakaging is automatically detected so as to minimize environment pollution in the future.

The operation and testing of SF double hulled tanks was within the framework of ODA from Japanese government to Vietnam. Tamada Company is transferring the technology to Petrolimex Group with the support of JICA.
