Petrolimex opens first training course for station managers
Hanoi (May 10, 2010) - Petrolimex has launched its first training course for its petrol station managers nationwide as part of a program jointly developed with the Development Consultancy and Training Institute, APEX.
The program has been defined as the cornerstone in the corporation’s training plan in 2010. Tailored to have the largest scope to date, the program will benefit more than 1,900 Petrolimex managers nationwide from May 2010 to May 2011.
The program aims to equip these managers with essential “soft skills” that enable them to better handle issues under their mandate to meet the corporation’s development requirements and serve the needs of society.
The one-year training program has been tailored to consist of 57 courses, each with less than 35 participants, to be trained over a five-day period. Twenty-eight courses are scheduled to take place in Hanoi for the managers of northern petrol stations. Nine courses will be held in the central city of Da Nang for those working in the central region and 20 courses in Ho Chi Minh City will serve those in the south.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Petrolinex Deputy General Director Vuong Thai Dung said: “The organisation of a first-ever training program in a professional and large-scale manner reflects the high esteem Petrolimex leaders have for the role and position of petrol station managers in the corporation’s operations, as each station acts as a representative for the corporation in serving society. To make every singe course successful, we need efforts from Petrolimex leaders, the Organisation and Personnel Department, and APEX, as well as coordination from you – the participating petrol station managers. We need you to exchange views, share experiences and contribute comments on lessons learnt so we can make necessary changes to perfect our training program. On behalf of Petrolimex leaders, I sincerely thank APEX for its enthusiastic role in compiling the training manuals and its cooperation with Petrolimex in personnel training.”
In his welcoming remarks, APEX Director Dr. Vu Hoang Phuong pledged that “APEX will spare no effort to make each course useful”. He said: “I believe that by working together in this training course and sharing experiences from daily work, we will draw practical conclusions that are helpful for each Petrolimex station manager in meeting the corporation’s requirements and the aspirations of society.”
Prior to the training program for petrol station managers, four big training programs were organised between 2001 and 2009 for more than 2,000 key Petrolimex officials at all levels. These programs focused on enhancing the participants’ management skills as well as their marketing, finance and human resource administration capacity. They also targeted training professional directors and mid-level managers for the corporation.
By organising these training programs, Petrolimex leaders have translated into action their position to put humans at the centre and consider them a driving force for development by making the entrepreneurial environment, a place where they can use their talents and creativeness to serve the development of the corporation. With this strategy, Petrolimex also looks to develop a contingent of staffers who work efficiently toward building the corporation into a major, leading group in Vietnam which is capable of competing with other rivals in the international market.
