On September 10, 2022, an inspection of the pre-acceptance test of the completion of Phase 1, the Expansion of K2 Depot Storage Capacity project took place at the Petrolimex Ba Ria - Vung Tau Co., Ltd. (Petrolimex Ba Ria - Vung Tau) at No 907, Road 30/4, 11 District, Vung Tau City. 

The inspection team was established in accordance with the Minister of Industry and Trade’s Decision No 1778/QĐ-BCT dated September 6, 2022 and headed by Deputy Head of the ministry’s Planning Department Nguyen Hoang Giang. The inspection team and officials from the ministry’s Planning Department; Oil, Gas and Coal Department; Science and Technology Department; and Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency; representatives from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Construction, and Department of Industry and Trade; and forces from the provincial Police’s  Division of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue examined the pre-acceptance test of the expansion of the K2 Depot’s storage capacity, phase 1, Petrolimex Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

On behalf of the investor, Chairman cum Director of Petrolimex Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Quan Ngoc San, spoke of the implementation process of the project. The expansion of K2 Depot started on November 13, 2011 with its first phase being completed on July 31, 2022. Accordingly, one steel oil storage tank with a total capacity of 5,000 cu.m, technological pipelines and ancillary works have been built. Despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and increased material prices as a result of the Russia - Ukraine conflict, the investor and contractors had closely and seriously inspected and supervised the construction process to ensure absolute safety and ensure that everything, from design to quality, was finally finished correctly and as initially planned. He said that achievement would be impossible without the thorough instructions from the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex).

The inspection team highly spoke of the implementation process which was carried out in line with legal procedures and regulations, and valuated the pre-acceptance test, quality management and the project quality documentation. These will serve as foundations for the inspection team to report to the competent authorities to consider and announce the examination results of pre-acceptance test of the completion of construction works.

The Expansion of K2 Depot Storage Capacity project is part of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Petrolimex Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Upon the completion of the first phase, the storage capacity of K2 Depot will increase from 10,000 cu.m to 15,000 cu.m, enabling the company to have sufficient supplies to meet the demand for fuel in the province, nearby Binh Thuan Province and other areas in the proximity, and contributing to ensuring the energy security, especially in the context of market uncertainty; and to maintaining the leading role of Petrolimex.
