Five key tasks set for 2021, crucial starting point of the 2021-2025 period
The Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/PLX/Group) organized the conference to review operations in 2020 and set tasks for 2021 in Hanoi on the occasion of its 65 founding anniversary on January 12, 2021.

An overview of the conference
The year 2020 was a really challenging one for production and business activities of enterprises in general and Petrolimex in particular. Disadvantages including the world geopolitics which caused the crude oil to plummet to negative prices for the first time in history, COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters that struck the central region have exerted direct and tremendous impacts on the Group’s production and business operations.
Nevertheless, under the guidance of the Central Enterprises Bloc’s Party Committee, the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) as well as the drastic management of the ministries of Finance, and Industry and Trade, the whole Petrolimex system has united and committed to seriously and effectively follow the Prime Minister’s instructions on “twin goal” of: reviving and developing the economy and society, striving for highest growth rate; and containing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outstanding performances in 2020

The year 2020 witnessed Forbes Vietnam continously honor Petrolimex in categories, namely: Champion of Revenue for the fourth year, Top 50 best listed companies and Vietnam’s Top 50 leading brands in 2020. The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange honored Petrolimex for having its Sustainable Development Report among the Top 10 enterprises listed on the stock exchange.
The year 2021 comes with positive signals in the fight against Covid-19 as many countries have started vaccinations. Nevertheless, the threat of a third wave of infection with a new variant has emerged, challenging efforts to soon contain the virus. The international and domestic situations are predicted to have intertwined opportunities, advantages and disadvantages, challenges, and the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to continue negatively impacting the world and domestic economies.
2021 is also the starting year for the implementation of the five-year production and business plan 2021 - 2025. On the basis of assessing and forecasting the situation in 2021, Petrolimex set forth five key tasks that the Group strives to successfully fulfill, that is:
(1) Ensure complete safety in production and business activities, and continue strengthening the fight against and prevention of Covid-19;
(2) Synchronously adopt solutions to fulfill production and business targets set for 2021;
(3) Enhance core petroleum production and business activities, which focuses on expanding petroleum retail system, modernizing the present petrol stations, and determining to complete the application of cashless payment method and deploy a new brand identity roadmap across the whole system;
(4) Improve production and business efficiency through technological advances, innovation and digitization;
(5) Focus on the development of human resources, improving capabilities and professional qualifications of the staff, and work out solutions to encourage them to be creative, and bring into full play their capabilities to reach the set targets.
Addressing the conference, CMSC chairman Nguyen Hoang Anh acknowledged and appraised achievements that Petrolimex made after an extremely difficult year of 2020. He expected that the 2020 performances will be a starting point for 2021 production and business activities as well as for the whole 2021-2025 period.
To reach socio-economic goals that the Government set for the new year, CMSC chairman Nguyen Hoang Anh requested the whole Petrolimex staff to make a join effort to fulfill targets registered with CMSC through: improved forecasting to reduce risks; comprehensively assess the implementation of Petrolimex restructuring scheme in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision 828; propose contents appropriate with the 2021-25 development strategy; concurrently reducing the State ownership once approved by the Prime Minister to enhance governance capacity and operational efficiency, effectively organize the logistics system, increase benefits for the State and shareholders.
The year 2021 is of overriding importance as it is the year of the 13th Party National Congress. That is the starting point for a new development path of the country. Along with the development of the country, Petrolimex will set and carry on much bigger responsibilities and goals, implementing the Group’s strategy for the 2020-2030 period with a vision to 2045.
Under the direction of the Party, Government, CMSC, ministries and sectors together with its traditional strengths for the past 65 years, Petrolimex will continue staying united, strive with higher determination and efforts, be more dynamic and creative to successfully complete goals and tasks set for the year 2021, setting the premise for the following years to further develop the Vietnam National Petroleum Group, contributing to the national socio-economic development and energy security.
