On May 7, 2019, the People’s Committee of Tay Hoa District and the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/PLX) co-organised a ceremony to hand over the upgraded Hoa Binh 1 Kindergarten in Hoa Binh Commune, Tay Hoa District, Phu Yen Province.

The event witnessed the attendance of Party Central Committee member, Provincial Party Committee’s secretary, Chairman of Phu Yen Province’s People’s Council Huynh Tan Viet; Provincial Party Committee’s vice secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Pham Dai Duong; Secretary of Tay Hoa District’s Party Committee Ho Thi Nguyen Thao; Chairman of Tay Hoa District’s People’s Committee Pham Tan Chan; and permanent vice secretary of Tay Hoa District’s Party Committee Do Van Cap.

On the Petrolimex’s side, Secretary of Petrolimex’s Party Committee and Chairman Pham Van Thanh, Chairman of Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union Dinh Thai Huong, Petrolimex Deputy General Director Nguyen Quang Dung, Chairman cum Director of Petrolimex Khanh Hoa Le Tien Duan and leaders of Petrolimex Khanh Hoa’s Phu Yen Branch presided over the hand-over ceremony.

The Hoa Binh 1 Kindergarten was established in 2010 on the foundation of the semi-public Hoa Binh 1 Kindergarten in line with Decision No 1219/QD-UBND dated August 2, 2010 by Tay Hoa District’s People’s Committee.

Since its inception, the school did not enjoy a stable location to accommodate around 100 local children and 10 teachers. The current facilities were partly transferred from Nguyen Anh Hao Secondary School in Hoa Binh 1 Commune but they were all in poor and dilapidated physical condition.

Petrolimex provided financial aid worth VND5 billion (US$214,000) to build a spacious, two-story study building, a classroom for physical training, managing room, kitchen and canteen on a total area of 975sq.m. The project is of practical significance, facilitating a schooling environment for children in the commune and neighbouring areas and satisfying Phu Yen Province’s demand for educating young generation.

Secretary of Tay Hoa District’s Party Committee Ho Thi Nguyen Thao expressed her thanks to Petrolimex as well as Khanh Hoa Petrolimex’s Phu Yen Branch for their support to help build up a spacious schooling environment for Hoa Binh 1 Kindergarten children and teachers, which also helps the children’s parents feel secure to send their children their and focus more on their work.

The project is a gift from the whole Petrolimex staff to Phu Yen Province in general and to Tay Hoa District in particular, showcasing Petrolimex’s social responsibility towards the locality’s poverty reduction. Of note, the project is a practical activity to celebrate the 129th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2019) and 30 years of re-establishment of Phu Yen Province (July 1, 1989 – July 1, 2019).

Addressing the ceremony, Petrolimex Chairman Pham Van Thanh said with the new and modern facility, the school children and teachers will have better condition to “teach well, learn well”. He said the children have better condition to learn, play and fully develop physically and intellectually to become elite citizens who will succeed and promote fine traditions of the ancestors, and further develop the locality.

On the occasion, Petrolimex presented three new TVs worth VND30 million to Hoa Binh 1 Kindergarten to help improve the school’s cultural and educational activities.

Over the past years, Petrolimex has emphasised not only in production and business activities but also on social welfare, demonstrating its corporate responsibility towards the community. Promoting the President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings "For the benefit of 10 years we should grow tree, and for the benefit of 100 years we should provide people with a good education", Petrolimex contributed to the building of Hoa Binh 1 school, expecting to create a fine journey for the better future of the local children and to improve the locality’s education quality.
