On the morning of October 20, at Thien Quang Lake, Hanoi, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/The Group) organised the launching ceremony of the "Petrolimex Run - For a Green Vietnam" race 2024. The race attracted the participation of thousands of Petrolimex officials and employees nationwide, connected through an online format spanning more than 20 locations.

Attending the launching ceremony at the Hanoi venue were several distinguished guests, including Phan Van Ban, member of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour’s Presidium and Chairman of the Vietnam National Union of Workers in Industry and Trade; Hoang Thi Minh Thu, member of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Standing Committee, member of the Central Business Bloc’s Party Executive Committee, and Secretary of the Central Business Bloc’s Youth Union; as well as representatives from partner units and close customers of Petrolimex.

On the Petrolimex side, the attendees included Pham Van Thanh, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Management; Dao Nam Hai, member of the Board of Management and Director General; Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Deputy Director General and Head of the race’s Organising Committee; along with members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, members of the Board of Management, Board of Directors, representatives of the State Capital at the Group, representatives from various departments and divisions, and leaders of the Party Committees, Trade Unions, and Youth Unions of units directly under the Group in Hanoi.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Petrolimex Party Committee secretary and Chairman of the Board of Management, Pham Van Thanh, said: "This Petrolimex race spreads the message 'For a Green Vietnam.' The Group calls on organisations, units, and individuals to join hands in responding to climate change, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and protecting a green and clean environment. The run is not just a sporting event, but also a meaningful activity, demonstrating Petrolimex's commitment to the environment and the sustainable development of the country."

In the context of rapid climate change, environmental protection has become a more urgent task than ever before. The Vietnamese Government has set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, committing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the use of renewable energy. Petrolimex, as one of the leading energy corporations, has been actively implementing solutions to transition to green, clean, and environmentally friendly energy.

The "Petrolimex Run - For a Green Vietnam" race highlights the commitment of Petrolimex's leadership and the leaders of its affiliated units. It also showcases the spirit of solidarity, determination, and readiness to overcome difficulties and challenges among the collective of officials, employees, and workers of Petrolimex's member units. This embodies the enduring cultural traditions and responsibility to the community that have been established and maintained for many years.

This year's run carries special significance, as Petrolimex will donate VND5,000 to the tree-planting fund for every kilometer accumulated, contributing to the greening of the country. The run is a practical activity that aligns with the Government’s National Strategy on Climate Change, aiming towards the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Additionally, it serves as a sports training activity to improve the health of Petrolimex's employees, ultimately supporting the production and business activities at Petrolimex.

At the launching ceremony, Petrolimex's affiliated units actively responded by contributing and supporting the Petrolimex green tree planting fund with a total amount of VND810 million (US$31,700). With an enthusiastic and united spirit, the athletes competed together in the 1.2 km, 2.5 km, and 5 km fun run distances, achieving many impressive results. The "Petrolimex Run - For a Green Vietnam" was organised in an online format from October 20, 2024, to November 3, 2024.
