90th anniversary of petroleum industry’s day celebrated
On March 13 the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/PLX/Group) and the Vietnam Petroleum Association (Vinpa) solemnly organised a ceremony celebrating the 90th Traditional Day of Vietnam Petroleum Industry (March 13, 1928- March 13, 2018) at the headquarters of Petrolimex Hai Phong, No 1 So Dau, Thuong Ly, Hai Phong City – a historical place proudly known nation-wide as "the land of loyalty" and "the cradle of Vietnam revolutionary petroleum industry".

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai; former Minister of Trade and former Director General of the then Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation Truong Dinh Tuyen; Deputy Chairman of Hai Phong City’s People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh; Deputy Secretary of Central Enterprises Group’s Party Committee Tran Huu Binh; Chairman of the Vietnam National Union of Workers in Industry and Trade Tran Quang Huy; Chairman of Vietnam Petroleum Association Phan The Rue; Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee – Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao; Petrolimex Management Board member and Director General of Petrolimex Pham Duc Thang; Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union Dinh Thai Huong; and representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Hai Phong City’s departments and sectors, petroleum distributors, leaders and former leaders and representatives of generations of petroleum labourers; Central and local, and some specialised media practitioners were in attendance at the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Petroleum Industry.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee – Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao recalled the glorious tradition of the petroleum industry’s working class; the historical significance and scope of the victory of the strike by Thuong Ly Oil Department’s workers 90 years ago.
Upholding that heroic and resilient tradition, generations of the petroleum industry’s leaders, managers and labourers have always stayed united to overcome difficulties and hardships for best work performance to make numerous achievements in the fight for national liberation, construction and protection; contributing to ensuring the national energy security, creating stable job and income for thousands of labourers.
Former Minister of Trade and former Director General of the then Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation Truong Dinh Tuyen expressed his pride as a cadre working in the petroleum sector and believed that succeeding generations would always consider the serving of people, serving of consumers as the core task, and consider consumers’ interests as the basis to secure their own interests. Additionally, he noted that upon the widespreadfourth industrial revolution, the petroleum industry should modernise material facilities and corporate management, and actively apply science and technology into production and business activities to continue making new achievements in the time to come.
On behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade leadership and Party Civil Affairs Department, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai conveyed congratulatory words to the whole petroleum industry’s leaders, managers and labourers on the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day; acknowledging and appraising achievements the petroleum industry gained in socio-economic development, and production and business activities. Of note, he applauded the key role that the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) has played in the industry, making considerable contributions to the national development.
On behalf of young generation of the petroleum industry, Secretary of Petrolimex Hai Phong’s Youth Union Ngo Dang Khanh expressed deep gratefulness, respect and gratitude to generations of predecessors, generations of leaders and the whole managers and labourers in the petroleum industry; promising that the petroleum industry’s youths have been and will continue doing their utmost to become people with lofty ideals, fine quality, firm political will and spirit, knowledge, capability to acquire the knowledge-based economy, professional qualification and skills, and health to be master of science and technology and to be enthusiastic and well-prepared to fulfill assigned tasks.
Ahead of the ceremony, Petrolimex presided over athurification at the monument of Nguyen Duc Canhat Diem Dien Township in northern Thai Binh Province and amanoeuvres celebrating the 90th anniversary of Traditional Day on March 13at No 1 So Dau (Hai Phong City).
Right from first days of the lunar New Year, many Petrolimex member companies have organised practical activities to celebrate the traditional day, such as:tree planting festival, sports events, sale promotion, and so on and organised field trips in Hai Phong City and Thai Binh Province for media practitioners to learn about the history of the petroleum industry’s traditional so through their articles the mass of workers in the petroleum industry and general public nationwide could have better understanding of the significance of the historical even that occurred on March 13 some 90 years ago as well as the patriotism and revolution of the working class of the Vietnam petroleum industry.
On this occasion, Petrolimex has received flowers and fine congratulatory messages from media bodies, partners, trading partners and customers.
